January storms caused giant waves to pound on the cliffs near these farm fields on Highway 1 above Santa Cruz, California. Winter 1993 -94, I stopped and painted this on the tailgate of my car – I was looking for a "Sea Arch" I had sketched the year before. It was knocked down by this storm when I found where it should have been – 3 miles up the coast from Santa Cruz, about 2 - 3 miles south of this scene.
